What is Graphene?

Graphene is a two-dimensional crystal composed of carbon atoms, only one atom thick, peeled from graphite.
In 2004, Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov, physicists at the University of Manchester in the UK, successfully isolated graphene from graphite, proving that it can exist independently. They were jointly awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics for this achievement.
As the thinnest, hardest, and most electrically and thermally conductive nanomaterial discovered to date, graphene is known as “black gold” and is considered the “king of new materials.”
